Homesteader Community League has been dedicated to fostering a vibrant and active community for people of all ages since 1977. Our goal is to provide inclusive sports and recreational opportunities that promote physical activity, teamwork, and togetherness in the communities of Homesteader, Overlanders, and Canon Ridge.
Through passionate volunteers and coaches, we aim to create a culture of respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Together, we create a supportive and dynamic community where people of all ages can thrive and connect through sports and recreation.
Our skating rinks are NOW CLOSED for 2023-2024

Ed Romijn
Ed Romijn has been volunteering for the Homesteader Community League since 1983, serving in almost every position before landing his current role as bookkeeper. Ed began as a coach for his boys’ hockey teams, first with the community, then with Braves Raiders as that organization was formed. This was when hockey games were outside and the parents pitched in to clear the ice after practices and games. During this time, Ed also served on the board of the Northeast Zone Sports Council. In over 40 years of service to our community, Ed has never missed a meeting or opportunity to help with community projects.
This is just one volunteer, the community would not be here without the many volunteers who formed and put in countless hours, to leave this legacy to the next generation. Greg and Holly Burgeoyne, Corey and Lesley Calvert, Marg Liber, Marg Spafford. All the coaches over the years and board members. Parents and Grandparents. Thank you to the next generation that is stepping up: Shannon Flurey and Lynn Maberry. If you know some history or would like to mention a Homesteader Volunteer who deserves a shout-out, let us know.
