Canon Ridge was named after its Anglican founder, Canon William Newton, in 1875. The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway line, which formalizes the area's southern boundary, used to overlook two cattle farms that were later replaced with the homes you see today. Luckily, the City of Edmonton preserved most of Hermitage's beautiful walking trails for your enjoyment.
